With three primary school aged children, family life is fairly hectic in Matthew and Rachaels household, revolving largely, as is normally the case, around the youngster's lives.
The working/school week is always busy. Early starts and long days are the standard practice, with Rachael juggling her time between her responsibilities to the family business, and supporting the school as much as possible with tuckshop and in other ways.
Weekends usually find them at Gillian or Megs' ballet classes, or junior footy where Peter plays Under 6 with the Theodore Roosters. At other times of the year, the childrens' swimming, music, school dance, netball, tee-ball, public speaking and cross country events means the calendar is always well pencilled in.
Matthew and Rachael have lived on family properties for 12 years, the latest move to Carrabah in late 2006 meeting with the enthusiastic approval of the kids who are kept busy caring for poddies that are constantly hungry, dogs, a cat they inherited with the property, and helping with the mustering and cattle work.
Matthew and Rachael have long enjoyed an involvement in the wider Taroom community. From his days playing front row for the Taroom Battlers (he still insists he should have worn the number 6), to associations with many local organisations including the Taroom Show Society, Matthew has been a great advocate of the local district.
Rachael, likewise, enjoys the friendships and camaraderie afforded by her connections within school and community groups.
Beyond local horizons, their involvement with the Charolais and Charbray Societies, where Matthew currently serves as vice president, has brought them a world of satisfaction and new friendships.
