Laurie and Pat Welsh
Laurie (Poppy) and Pat (Ma) live at The Five Mile, which is at the hub of our operation, appropriately situated close to equal distance from each of the group properties, as both are constantly on call. (If you ask them maybe on call too often!!)
Laurie can be found constantly travelling between places, 'Cruiser loaded with dry lick and enough tools to fix anything from a water leak to a broken fence, or even a broken down bore. He gets extra busy during calving season with binoculars in hand and keeping bulls in paddocks. Laurie has been known to be a bit cautious in offering his services during cricket season and definitely is deaf to the phone while the footy's on, but he certainly will be in the paddock, busy, when Pat mentions the garden.
Pat, on the other hand has her work cut out keeping everything together and happening. She keeps all the stock recording and registration up to date with their respective societies and has been known to crack the whip when paddock sheets don't get handed in properly. Pat's great affection is family -- a big fan of family get togethers, especially if it involves a coldie or two -- and now is a very dedicated grandmother to six granddaughters, three grandsons.
She is a very keen and successful artist, so visitors be warned: a tour of the art room is compulsory.
