Huntington delighted with hard-won success

Luke and Matthew Welsh returned from the recent Ag Grow sale in Emerald, beaming with satisfaction.
"It was a reasonably tough sale, so we were really pleased to have achieved the top sale average with our two bulls," Luke Welsh commented.
Huntington Alexis (pictured) was the sale's second top result, selling to John and Donna Finger of Lake Lofty, Dysart, for $12,500, while their other entry, Huntington Alfred, went to the Iker Family, Springsure, for $5500.
"It confirms our steadfast belief in the value of genetics proven in the real world of cattle breeding.
"When conditions are tough, those bloodlines are even more attractive to buyers who aren't prepared to gamble with their investments," he said.
The merit of Huntington's success was reinforced by the fact that a large offering of over 300 animals was offered, representing over 15 separate breeds, including 130 Charolais and 31 Charbrays.
The Ag Grow sale is the only multi-vendor sale supported by Huntington annually. "The sale is held in conjunction with the Ag Grow Field Days which we participate in. Otherwise, we only sell at our own sale, or in the paddock," Luke concluded.
Huntington has catalogued 56 Charolais bulls (together with guest vendor Branchview Charolais's 24 bringing the full offering to 80 head) as well as 95 Charbray bulls and 55 Charbray females at this year's annual sale to be held at Taroom on August 30, 2007.
